Melissa grew up in sunny South Florida and attended Palm Beach County School of the Arts. She also attended several schools including Jon Mullen’s Performing Arts Center, Florida Dance Conservatory, Boca Ballet Theater, and Klein Dance. She also had the opportunity to study the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) syllabus early in her teaching career with Denise Muller at Giselle's Dance Studio. She performed with several companies throughout South Florida including Boca Ballet Theatre, Corps Chameleon and Millennium Dance Syndicate.
In 2007, Melissa moved to Los Angeles to teach and continue her training. She was on scholarship with many great teachers, while continuing to teach. While training in Los Angeles, she helped build a ballet program and two performing ballet companies with partners Leigh Purtill and Susie Foretti at Le Studio Dance in Pasadena.
Melissa moved back to South Florida in 2011 and continues her work as an active teacher and
choreographer, choreographing over 20 full length ballet productions since her return. Melissa was nominated by her students in 2017 as “Best Dance Teacher” and featured in South Florida's Dance magazine.
Melissa has had students accepted into many programs such as American Ballet Theater (ABT), Arizona University, Austin Ballet, Boston Ballet Trainee Program, BAK School of the Arts, The Colburn Pre-Professional Training Program, Dreyfoos School of the Arts, Los Angeles School of the Arts, Joffrey Chicago, Nutmeg, Orlando Ballet and The Rock School of Dance. She also majored in psychology and believes these studies have been a tremendous help in understanding her students and their development. Melissa is an ABT Certified teacher who has successfully completed ABT Teacher Training in levels Pre-Primary through Level 5 of the ABT National Training Curriculum.
